WHAT IS REMOTECODERS?

Remotecoders is a Swiss non-profit organization pioneering “IT nearshoring for good.” We recruit the best senior developers in the MENA region and pair them with vulnerable juniors, who are trained remotely with the help of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL). European industry partners get access to vetted and highly specialized teams of three, and team members can stay close to their culture and families instead of embarking on a dangerous journey of migration. 

HOW WAS REMOTECODERS STARTED?

There are a lot of highly qualified and vulnerable people in the MENA Region. They are either refugees and migrants who are struggling to secure a stable financial income or unemployed youths who are also struggling after finishing their studies due to the lack of opportunities. Both categories are under a lot of pressure and many of them decide to take the dangerous journey to migrate to another country.


The two founders has experience with integrating vulnerable people in IT in Switzerland with Powercoders for the last five years and they always had the motivation and passion to open the doors also for vulnerable people outside of Switzerland.

WHAT IMPACT REMOTECODERS IS TRYING TO CREATE?

There is a massive lack for IT professionals and at the same time, there are a lot of highly qualified vulnerable people in the MENA Region who are desperately looking for opportunities. Remote job opportunities for vulnerable people in the MENA with IT companies in Europe are our solution. It fills the gap and allows people to stay with their families and be close to their culture.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

HOW DOES REMOTECODERS WORK?

Remotecoders is setting up local companies that recruit, train, and employ vulnerable ICT talents in Egypt. Our model is focused on IT outsourcing, offering trained teams instead of individual talents. Each team is highly specialized to the demands of our industry partners and consists of a senior team lead and two vulnerable juniors.

To make this impactful program work, we always need:

  1. motivated and committed companies to hire teams (1 senior and 2 juniors). Check companies page.

FOR COMPANIES

If you are an IT company or have an IT department and you have a remote team, you have the opportunity to build up a small remote team in Cairo for 6 months and then decide if you want to expand it strategically or leave it as a pilot. The cost for a team of 3 - 4 FTE for 6 months is CHF 30'000.

HOW CAN A COMPANY GET INVOLVED WITH REMOTECODERS?

WHAT LEVEL IS REMOTECODERS TEAMS?

 

Very high-level and highly specialized teams. Each team will have a senior developer and this senior developer will be accompanied by 2 juniors who successfully finished the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) extension school diploma.

HOW MUCH DOES THE INTERNSHIP/TRAINING COST?

Each partner gets a team of three FTE for six months. Thanks to generous support from the federal government and foundations, this is possible at a cost of only CHF 30'000.

HOW CAN WE RECRUITE REMOTECODERS TEAMS?

 

Remotecoders has set up a local company to provide all the necessary support from payroll, infrastructure, contracts, and so on. Need more details, let's have a call. 

 

FOR TALENTS

HOW CAN I APPLY?

WHAT INTERNSHIPS ARE OFFERED BY COMPANIES?

Our partners offer internships in IT in general. You should be open to seizing an opportunity to kick off your career life even if it includes learning new things.

WHAT ARE THE GENERAL REQUIREMENTS?

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Must have a legal status that allows a work permit for remote work

  • Wants and can work remotely (reliable connection, quite workplace)

  • Must be fluent in English (CEFR C1 level, use an online level estimation test)

  • Must be available for a full-time 6- to 12-months internship

  • Open and willing to seize opportunities outside their specialization to enter the IT job market.
